    PATHS colleagues participated in the ENRICH  workshop held in August at SIGIR 2013, one of the leading conferences relating to information retrieval. The workshop was hosted by Trinity College, Dublin. 

  • The second PATHS prototype is tested!

    Users have been getting to grips with the second PATHS prototype through the summer, with demonstration groups in taking place in Spain, the UK and Greece, and a series of lab-based evaluations being run by the PATHS team at the University of Sheffield Information School.

    PATHS has prepared a short report setting out recommendations on the use of open source software for the automatic enrichment of Digital Library content.

  • Deadline extended

    The deadline for papers and demos for SUEDL 2013 has been extended to July 14th, 2013.
    SUEDL 2013 is the 2nd International Workshop on Supporting Users’ Exploration of Digital Libraries and will be held on Malta, on 26th September, 2013 (in association with TPDL).  http://nlp.shef.ac.uk/suedl2013

    The Europeana Cloud project is conducting  a web survey to gather information on digital research practices, tools and content and to collect evidence-based data from the Humanities and Social Sciences research communities, focusing in particular on the potential use of content from Europeana and the European Library within Europeana Cloud.

  • Participation by PATHS in *SEM 2013

    The main goal of *SEM is to provide a stable forum for the growing number of NLP researchers working on different aspects of semantic processing.  PATHS team members from the University of the Basque Country will be travelling to Atlanta in June to present results from an evaluation exercise that has allowed the PATHS system to be compared to the state of the art from around the world.

    The Call for Papers for the The 2nd International Workshop on Supporting Users Exploration of Digital Libraries  is now open.

    The aim of SUEDL is to stimulate discussion and collaboration between experts, practitioners and stakeholders in digital libraries, cultural heritage, human-computer interaction, user evaluation, interactive information retrieval, and NLP, in order to investigate the latest advances in supporting users’ access to and exploration in large-scale and complex digital libraries.
